There are many geeks out there that, when faced with trigonometry and calculus threw themselves in the loops and whorls that made up the graphs described in complex multidimensional equations. There are, of course, those that looked at y=abs{2sin(x)cos(x)} and giggled at the resulting graph's anatomical resemblance. I guess not every Newton can be expected to also be a Monet.
