Boys borrowing our makeup isn’t a new trend—just look at the heavy metal rockers of the 80s who used just as much (if not more) eye shadow, liner, lipstick, and rouge as any girl groupie waiting on the bus for the after-party. While rockers have toned it down since that decadent decade, here and there, we still see singers (like American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, shown above) going for the guyliner.
So I ask you—Guyliner: titillating or too effeminate? Let's hear it from the boys and girls!

Cool!
I don't want to date a guy who takes longer than I do to get ready. Can you say, "high maintenance"?
No way!
A guy should not have more hair products and/or makeup on than me.
Yum!! I love it.
I definitely think that guyliner can create a more striking appearance, but I don't really like it. I'd definitely feel a bit weird if my husband wore it, haha.
OK, these guys look like d-bags, but that's less about them wearing eyeliner than just looking like d-bags.

I do enjoy the guyliner on Richard Armitage on the BBC's Robin Hood show...Amusingly the character's name is Guy, so it truly is Guyliner. :)
lol @cristina
and
ditto @stellastylista
Russell Brand is a comedian? I had no idea.
PS. Maybe guyliner will be my next WIW post? lol no.
I have to say I love guyliner on Captain Jack Sparrow.
I like it...
i think its hot, but only on certain people. definitely not on that american idol boy- yuck! jack sparrow could pull it off nicely. my husband has worn it before, at my suggestion lol, and it looked great on him.. so it just depends on the person and how they do it.
i don't like it when it's overdone..(like that first guy). i definitely think it looks kinda mysterious when it's suuuuper subtle and not all feminine. i dunno. i'm on the fence. but i do think it's a little exciting! i don't think i'd mind if my guy wore some just on special occasions just to change it up..lol..
i have to agree with jennic. some guys (like adam lambert) can pull it off great, but others just look like jack sparrow wannabes or just plain drooopy (billy joe armstrong on green day). overall, i dont really love it or hate it.
I agree with you fencesitters. It looks kinda hot on some guys, but that's when it's part of their style, when they have the confidence and the attitude to pull it off. Jack Sparrow? Hell yes! My lawyer? Hell no! I think we can all agree it should probably be an after-dark thing. But it's kind of like fashion on women; if you're not comfortable wearing it, it'll show.
I think Adam Lambert is very pretty in his make-up. But the key word there is 'pretty'. My guy better not fight me for mirror time or leave a lipstick mark on my face. I think when guyliner is intriguing it's on grittier guys.
P.S. I just saw a photo of John Mayer wearing guyliner and he IS The Duke of Douche, so . . . .
Not a fan. I mean, I'll give a pass to a few select rock stars (cough...Scott Weiland) but these guys look like total douche-bags, except for Russell Brand. He just looks goofy.
Yeah...Not a fan of it either.
@miss_daphne: Your comment about John Mayer was fabulous! Hahaha!
Yeah, I think it should really be reserved for people who can really rock it. It's hot if it's androgynous (David Bowie), ironic (the New York Dolls), or grungy and/or overtly male (like Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop and Richard Armitage). I love Mike Ness and Robert Smith, but they're two people who I think should never have been wearing eyeliner. I think maybe with the too big, too intricate hair, it looks like those guys up there are trying too hard. And, hello, Pete Wentz, remember to take off yesterday's eyeliner before you pile more on and end up with crazy raccoon eyes.
let me put it this way... if you cover up a guys face, and all you see are his eyes, and you're not sure if it's a chick or dude..!? Then there is something wrong there!
I like it on a certain type of guy. Adam Lambert being one cause hes just amazing. But I def dont want it on my guy!
I like it! But I think that Russel Brand guy just looks creepy (not because of the guyliner, though).
no bueno. it's totally douchey.
