Hello all! If you remember, I’m the girl who made the kimono top some time ago. First of all, thanks to everyone for their comments to my earlier post. Somebody had asked me to make a tutorial, but back then I declined, because, while I can sort of make myself understood in English, writing detailed instructions with technical sewing terms would be too difficult for me. But the user johnny_eck [that’s me! *wave*] has agreed to translate the tutorial, so I cut up a few more t-shirts, took photos and made up the instructions. There will be two alternating sets of photos from different kimono tops: one in darker colors, and the other green and pink. To make your top, you’ll need a few shirts. If you look at the diagram, you can see that the pattern is actually very simple, and consists mainly of rectangles, which are easy to cut and sew. There’s a top part with overlapping sides, a collar, a bottom part, sleeves (plus possibly binding for sleeves), and a long wrappy belt (if you want).... See less
