(08/06/09) Bone Palace Ballet is the second full length album from the post hardcore band Chiodos. If you have listened to their previous album, you will notice a dramatic change in style. This album is definetly the most creative release from this band as there are many different styles on offer here, as well an array of different instruments, making this album more musical. One song will have heavy shredding guitars with rip roaring screaming vocals, then the next will be a soft song played on piano with the lead vocalists highly recognisable high pitched voice. I must admit that bone palace ballet is no where near as technical as the previous album, with alot of the songs being more straight forward making it easier to get into this one. Some stand out tracks are -Lexington(Joey Pea-Pot With a Monkey Face)- a really catchy song that sounds kind of jazzy and fuses the bands guitars with the enchanting rhythm of a piano. -A letter From Jannelle - An emo sounding track that is filled with emotion...See less

(08/05/09) Amazon.com Against Me! made the mistake of releasing one of the more beloved independent label debuts of the decade with 2002's Reinventing Axl Rose, and have been playing a game of catch-up ever since. Tom Gabel's Billy-Bragg-meets-the-Clash songcraft melded punk and folk, the political and the personal, and rocked pretty damn hard as well. Their output since then, while not at all disappointing, has necessarily lacked that shock of discovery. But with New Wave, one gets the sense that the band is hoping to finally move on. Released on a major label with big-time producer Butch Vig onboard, it's a rock record, full of straight-up stomp and swagger. Tracks like "Thrash Unreal" and "Americans Abroad" tear it up with a party-band brashness reminiscent of something like Rocket From the Crypt, or even Jimmy Eat World. But of course, Gabel has more on his mind than just a good time, and beneath the headbanging is a core of frustration and burning discontent with the world, with fame, with...See less

(07/23/09) This is the best punk album i have ever heard, that may sound crazy, i can hear you screaming at me, that there can't ever be a punk album that is gonna be better than "and out come the wolves". And before i listened to this i would have agreed. The unseen are the such a class band, i happened across them by mistake, i saw them play at an anti-flag show, and i had to go out a buy this album. Its raw and edgey, as punk should be. Plus you get Lars from rancid appearing on the album ( see track "we are all that we have") There is no point talking about stand out tracks cus this album is amazing from start to finish. Anyone angry at the poor quality coming out of rancid recently should seriously check out this band to fill the gap left in punk.See less

(07/23/09) CD Description Formed in Southern California in the early '90s, Reel Big Fish has slowly gathered a massive following by virtue of a combination of relentless touring and relentlessly peppy albums, following in the wake of such erstwhile ska/punk bands as No Doubt. While Reel Big Fish lack a front person with theobvious charms of Gwen Stefani, they plough an irresistibleBare Naked Ladies-type furrow with energetic frat-boy anthems such as "Ban the Tube Top" ("beautiful girl, ugly shirt--you are a fashion red alert") and the ska/R&B flavoured "Suckers". There's no denying the attraction of sardonic lyrics set to upbeat rhythms, a formula the Fish stick to throughout CHEER UP! that hits home time and again, in songs such as "What Are Friends For", and "Dateless Losers", a self-explanatory frenetic excursion through many solitary Friday nights--("we're not so bad you know, but you won't give us a chance", they whine) that should find an echo in the hearts of dateless Reel Big Fish fans...See less
