The fruit seems to appear out of nowhere from spaces that seemed empty the previous day; providing a continuous source of enjoyment and garden amazement. The heirloom seed I purchased (not from this vendor) was collected from a Hmong (Meo) immigrant and is also available from large, widely respected seed vendors. Millions of the Hmong tribe live on the borders of Thailand, China, Burma, Laos and Vietnam and are a very ancient people. This cultivar is a garden novelty for those fortunate to have the space required for a large selection of heirloom vegetables. The crows wait, heckling each other, wanting to be the first to catch any food pedestrians drop into the uncovered trashcans. They know when the homeowners return in early evening the cans will be recovered and dragged back to their respective resting places, so for the few hours they have, a crow has got to be on top of her game.
