However, if you've seen the movie as often as my family has, the soundtrack becomes part of your daily life. Sheryl Crow gets the album off to a perfect start with a rocking rendition of "Real Gone", which I have found myself humming while exceeding the speed limit on the steaming asphalt of local highways. There's no getting away from Rascal Flatts' cover of "Life is a Highway", because my son doesn't get into the car without this CD, and his second favorite, "Sh-Boom" by The Chords, is a must-repeat play while we sing along with the chorus. There are two versions of "Route 66" - a golden oldie from Chuck Berry and an updated extended version by John Mayer, and "Our Town" by James Taylor always gets me moist around the eyes while remembering the movie. We first began to truly see this with Fantasia's exceptional debut, Ruben sophomore effort (better than his debut Soulful), and of course multi-platinum pop-rocker Kelly Clarkson's Grammy deserving Breakaway. SOME HEARTS presents a truly credible country album without the American Idol aspect attached, which may mark the first American Idol debut to officially shed that image. Carrie's debut is just as expected-a country set that has some pop sensibilities.
