(11/23/07) The jewelry art on this page is crafted in cast sterling silver using the "plique-a-jour" style of glass enameling, one of the most challenging and time-consuming enameling techniques. Granulated enamel is mixed with water and a gum solution, then suspended in the pierced areas of the metal. When the enamel dries, it is carefully placed in a kiln and fired until the enamel grains have melted and fused to the silver. This process is repeated layer upon layer until the glass fills each hollow area. The result: earrings with the brilliant luminance of stained glass. (05/10/08) Why not celebrate the joys of the Holidays and Winter Season with this one of a kind whimsical mischievous snowman Hairstick! This piece has a nice aged look that makes it so unique from anything else out there. It will be a treasured addition to anyone's jewelry collection! This would also make a wonderful and fun shawl pin. Just weave it through the knitting. The oak wood has been sanded smooth, so rest assured that there will be no snagging on delicate threads. The snowman focal bead was designed and sculpted by me from polymer clay. It has an overall brown aged/patina which has the slightest shimmer to it. The nose has a muted orange coloring. The scarf is green and the earmuffs are a dark-ish cranberry red. The features on this bead are slightly raised and the the snowflake/star pattern is recessed.
