Coolhunter Q&A: Janelle_Amber
This week’s Coolhunter Q&A features janelle_amber! Janelle, a second-year K-Lister who found Kaboodle through sister-company Seventeen , is, among other things, a rockin’ styleboard designer! Read on to find out more about her!
K: What inspires your personal style?
Janelle_amber: People, magazines, and some designers (like Hermès).
K: What is your newest obsession?
Janelle_amber: Round sunglasses . There's just something about them.
K: Do you have any secret talents?
Janelle_amber: I can draw. And drawing a person's face is what I'm best at. I've even been in a few art shows and a competition. The first show I was
in was when I was in 4th grade (it was a painting of pottery).
K: Tell us about one brand that changed your life.
Janelle_amber: Alexander McQueen. He had such a unique perspective and was daring and fun with fashion. He inspired me to have fun with fashion and to get out of my comfort zone.
K: What is your #1 guilty pleasure?
Janelle_amber: That would be a throw up between listening to Britney Spears's music and watching the Vampire Diaries (I can't get enough of Ian Somerhalder!).
K: What brand can you not live without?
Janelle_amber: American Eagle Outfitters. There are these studs I'm lusting after right now from there.
K: We love your styleboards! What tips do you have for creating a rockin' styleboard?
Janelle_amber: 1. Choose a theme. I usually start off with one product that inspires me and build around it.
2. Play with placement. The way the board is presented is very important. I imagine each product like a puzzle piece and try to fit each piece together
so that it is pleasing to the eye.
3. Pick a color palate. It helps you be consistent and helps the board feel more put together.
4. Use your tools. Personally, I use the 'Hide BG' button for almost everything that has a white background. The flip buttons help with placing your
items together better.
5. The edge is your friend. If an object is cut off in it's picture (the most common one would be the chain of a necklace), put the cut off part to the
border of the board. It looks cleaner that way.
K: Name one product you never leave the house without.
Janelle_amber: My ring. It's a simple, silver band that is on my ring finger because it's my purity ring. I never take it off.
