How to Help Keep Kaboodle Spam-Free

As one of our incredible Kaboodlers, no one knows better than you what belongs on our site. Still, try as we might to keep our product selection in line with our values and focused on wholesome awesomeness, sometimes spam finds its way to us. Fortunately, we’ve got a team here—and you—to help eliminate the stuff you know doesn’t below on our site.

How, you ask? It’s easy—if you know what we consider spam and how to report it! Read on to get the low down on how you can help keep Kaboodle spam-free without doing much more than your everyday Kaboodling.

What is Considered Spam?
When fighting spam on Kaboodle, it’s important to know exactly what should or shouldn’t be on the site.  The Community Guidelines and the Terms of Use are your place to go to get familiar with the rules we ask every Kaboodler to abide by. Simply put, we ask everyone to play nice (meaning kindness in your communications), keep it clean (think PG products), and play by the rules (i.e. stores and brands should act as such).

How to Report Spam When You See It
We do our best to prevent spam from sneaking into the awesome environment you help to create—and to take it down as fast as we can when it does get through. But if you happen to see something on Kaboodle that you feel is in violation of our guidelines, you can help get rid of it by finding the little red flag and/or the Report Spam link. From there, you quickly categorize the type of spam and send it our way. Here are the categories you can choose from:
  • Inappropriate or Explicit Content – Use this option if you see something that is not “family friendly.”
  • Abusive or Threatening Content – If you see content that is harassing another person, this would be the right choice.
  • Inaccurate Information or Pricing – If you come across something that is inaccurate, you can use this option. Just make sure to include the accurate information in the comment field!
  • Shop or Retailer – Retailers are encouraged to join in on the fun on Kaboodle, but must do so by following our retailer guidelines. If you see a retailer abusing the rules, this flag is the way to report them.
  • Spam – This option is to be used for general spam that doesn’t fit any of the other options.
  • Other – If you’re totally unsure, you can use this option and our spam squad will investigate further.
  • You also have the option to provide details in the comment box when flagging.

What Happens After I Report the Spam?
Your flags are submitted to a queue to be verified. The owner of the flagged content will not know who submitted the flags. Valid flags result in the content being removed from public view or from the site entirely. The more people who flag a single piece of content, the quicker the violation is resolved. And that means a better Kaboodle for all!

I hope this clears up the spam mystery and encourages you to flag violations if you happen to come across it. And thanks so much for helping us! Happy Kaboodling!
