Stores We Love: Zappos

When purchasing products online, I like to stalk their every move as they make their way to my loving arms.  My recent purchase from Zappos was no different. At one point, UPS stopped updating the progress of my package. This lack of updates turned me to Twitter. Without expectation of a response, I posted a castaway comment about UPS not updating my tracking info for my Zappos order. Within minutes Zappos had replied to me, asking for my order number so that they might help me out.

Twenty minutes after providing them with my order number, they had called UPS for me and found out the status of my package. I was blown away with how they treated my trivial situation as if I was their #1 VIP customer.  And that is exactly what they made me in the end by sending me an invite to their VIP site. 

I can’t say enough good things about Zappos and I will definitely be a customer for life! Has a retailer ever gone above and beyond the call of duty for you? Tell us!

  • Vistaprint.com wasn't as fast as that but they made some "personal" cards into "business" cards so I could get the right background and free upgrades with an e-mail that I got.   • I'm a fan of zappos! Greg ordered a pair of shoes Wednesday night around 9:00. They upgraded his shipping for free (which was a surprise to us!) and he received them yesterday around 2:00 instead of sometime next week like we were expecting!   • My very first purchase from Zappos hit a snag, but they proceeded to sweep me off of my feet with their response. It was Spring 2005, and I saw that Zappos had the best price on a pair of red Gola track shoes that I really really wanted. They had a lot of other neat Golas too, but I ordered the last pair of red ones in my size. The next morning I got an email that this pair could not be located in their warehouse. They offered me a refund or to send me any other pair of shoes within a range up to $25 over the purchase price of the red ones. Like I said, I really liked a lot of their Golas so I picked a blue pair that was about $15 more expensive instead. So that was nice, but get a load of this next part: I get the blue shoes the next morning and within minutes get an email confirming that the missing pair of red ones were located and that these also were being shipped to me AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! This response was so far above and beyond my expectations that I have been a dedicated customer ever since!
