Introducing the first of our annual ‘challenging how we sleep’ projects… Launched at Furniture Fashion in May this year, Float was voted by the public as 'Best piece of bedroom furniture' in the NZ made competition. Each year we choose one New Zealand designer to create a concept that challenges how we sleep. Each designer is chosen on the basis that their personal and design values are aligned with those of Design Mobel. The brief challenges the designer to create a design that is both functional and fit for purpose. This year we chose David Trubridge to work on this open brief. From boat building, to furniture making… designer David Trubridge has sailed through the Caribbean and the Pacific with his family in ‘Hornpipe’, Pacific influence sees his designs gracing Tokyo, Chicago, New York, Hanover at ‘Ligna’, London… the international Design Yearbook.
