With the decision on Tuesday, May 26 by California’s Supreme Court, many of us see our mission clearly: to continue to fight for true equality. It’s more than a little ironic, then, that at this time of unity-of-direction, we stand a very good chance of losing our community’s home. The Court’s decision is a landmark on a long road toward true equality for all. From Maine through Iowa and on to California, public opinion is moving in the direction of fairness and equality, and it’s only a matter of time until the freedom to marry will be secure for all Americans. Over time, people come to accept that ensuring equal protection under the law is the only way to protect the freedom of all; we’re in the middle of a long struggle and tomorrow’s ruling just gives us a reference-point for future action. But unless we as a community come together in support of our community center, we won’t have a place to call home…a place to gather in celebration or consolation…to meet to plan action…to...
