Baby has a pleasant, stretchy fluidity to it. The merino makes it extremely soft to the touch, without any hint of scratchiness. Knitting was almost shamelessly fast and easy. Although the yarn is loosely spun, it held together well enough for me to knit by touch alone without any snagging problems. There were only two clouds that shaded my sunny picnic: First, I discovered a knot halfway through the skein; and second, the stitches appeared slightly uneven. On a positive note, the uneven stitches could add an extra dimension of texture to the swatches. See less

From Music City Alpacas: We have several products here a Music City, ranging from Just shorn alpaca fleece to yarn spun out of our own fiber. If you are interested in a special order of any sorts, Please let me know and I will try to accommodate you. 100% Alpaca fleece straight from Music City Alpacas Own herd. We have currently have three colors of alpaca yarn here at Music City, Dark espresso, Chocolate Champagne , and Ben and Jerry's Vanilla but unfortunately we are sold out of the fawn. We are sending our fiber into a mill so we should be getting other colors in soon. The first yarn in the picture is the Dark espresso. It is a little coarser than the other two yarns we have in stock. This color is what we call "Chocolate Champagne" simply because of smooth luxurious feel. This yarn was harvested from Nutmeg Ben, Nukota Ben, and Mariah Ben just to name a few. It is a little larger than a sports weight. See less

I find that size 6 knitting needles work well with this yarn. Our ranch is located in mountainous North Eastern California, and our climate is usually cool and dry most of the year. We raise Perendale and CVM/Romeldale sheep which graze on irrigated pastures for most of the year. We can ship up to 1 lb yarn for the shipping price of $6.05. See less

We started raising these beautiful, vital, and healthy sheep Naturally 7 years ago, mainly because our Certified Organic Vegetable, Herb and Flower gardens needed lots of organic matter. As our vegetable gardens have flourished, our flock is regularly fed huge "salads" from the trimmings of the gardens plus red raspberry leaf tea collected from our large berry patch, plus other holistic treats. Sometimes I have an idea what color way I want to create and sometimes I let the colors take me where they want to go. I experiment, I play! I have old favorites that are always in demand and new colors that keep it fun and interesting for me and you. All yarns are dyed by one person ~ I consider each batch unique. I do not have formulas!! I like to think this is an art ~ not suitable for mass production. Inspiration comes from many sources, both internal and external.
