This asymmetrical necklace is constructed from brass filigrees and a crown stamping. Three chains are draped: a vintage watch band, an enamel and patina chain, and a goldtone chain. Adorning the filigrees and stamping is a mix of vintage enamel and plastic flowers, with watch movements and gears. I love this big chunky locket! I found a bunch of them from an old stock liquidator and bought them all. They are about the size of a pocket watch, and measure 1 3/4 of an inch across. I've topped this one with a rope edge bezel, and in the bezel setting is a clipping from a 1914 magazine ad, sealed under a magnifying cabochon. The top is finished off with a filigree bail. There are bubbles are captured under the cabochon, and I think it makes it look strange and mysterious. I try to give my work a sort of aged effect, so you can expect some odd textures and patinas. The interior compartment is roomy enough to stash all sorts of fun things. Equally at home on a man or a woman, you can wear this as a pendant on a velvet or silk ribbon, or you can wear it as a pocket watch on a chain. It is constructed from 7 panels of thick cotton twill canvas and is reinforced with an additional layer of canvas for even more cinching power. The edges and seams are encased in bias tape & lace. This sturdy, under-bust style is more of a decorative corset (not for severe waist reduction/training), but it will still pull in your waist a couple inches and give your mid-section a waspy, hour glass appearance. There is steel boning throughout (1/2" flat steel along the back & front & 1/4" spiral steel along the side seams). It laces up through double sided, black grommets and has a 6.5" tall cameo image of a vintage lithograph of a human skeleton torso on the front, sounded by more lace and hand pleated ribbon. Inspired by an EEG machine, a prominently featured graph is across the brow, with a gauge next, wires and screws are scattered about. Assembled with sturdy brass rivets, the finish is a warm, dark mahogany. The mask comes over the bridge of your nose, around your eye and over the top of your ear, comfortably allowing movement of your face. The masks secures in place with a sturdy brass buckle on a coordinating strap that's sized to be long enough to fit over hair or a wig, or cinch tight around your head. I take bits and pieces from the tons and tons of historical fashion books I have, and this is the kind of thing I come up with. This is a double breasted lapel strapless corset. It has beautiful corving lines to accomodate actual real woman curves! It took me A LONG time to figure out how to make this thing. Finally, I decided on a bodice that laced up first like a normal corset, and then had a faux button panel that crossed over and tied (It couldn't actually button down because it would take away the adjustability of the corset for different sizes.
