(12/03/07) I was asked to recommend a cheap guitar for a friend to get her boyfriend for christmas, so I went to GC and played all the guitars there from $300 down. Personally, I play a high quality Martin, and have been playing and performing for several years. I was shocked first of all by the low quality of many of the guitars there (Fender, yamaha comes to mind) for similar, and even higher, price ranges. When I picked up this Ibanez, I was shocked at how good it sounded for the price range. The volume is very balanced across the scale of the guitar, it is very playable, the tone is nice and bright, but has a solid, clear low end. Tone quality of this guitar is several times better than the fender of the same price. The workmanship is very professional. I plugged it into an acoustic amp while I was there and played several different styles from bluegrass to grateful dead to stairway to heaven to test it.
