His scrappy and aggressive style has earned him respect among both his peers and older riders. Tucker Brown, 21, has won a total of thirteen national championship medals, was a member of the junior national team in 2003 and is current PA time trial champion in the under 23 division. Race organizers confirmed today that George Hincapie (Discovery Channel Professional Cycling Team), Bobby Julich (Team CSC), Levi Leipheimer (Discovery Channel), and David Zabriskie (Team CSC) are among the athletes who will compete in one or more of the dual championship events September 1-2. Let's Put It In Perspective The Mortirolo will be the final climb of a brutal Stage 20 - the day before the race heads into Milano by way of a time trial up the Ghisallo. Unfortunately for the riders, the race will head up two epic climbs before hitting the opening, easy slopes of the Mortirolo. That sure looks like a good time. Minutes I Say, Minutes The stage starts in Trento, climbs the Passo Tonale and then it's on to the Cima Coppi, the Gavia. The Gavia is a story unto itself, but on this special day, it will be the Mortirolo that will make headlines, as it will be the final climb. Unfortunately, the race won't finish on top of it, but there will only be a crazy twisty descent to Edolo and then 10 uphillish km to the finish in Aprica. The Mortirolo will decide the day. Seconds might be gained or lost following the Mortirolo, but if the Mortirolo is raced aggressively, minutes will be gained or lost on her slopes. Orange is bad, and Red means death. Description: The Mortirolo is considered to be the toughest mountain one can climb in Italy and many professional cyclers consider it as the most difficult mountain to be climbed in any of the three major tours. Lucho Herrera (1991) referred to Mortirolo as being the "Queen climb of Europe" and Lance Armstrong referred to it as the hardest climb he'd ever ridden. The Mortirolo is situated in Lombardy. Starting from Mazzo, the Mortirolo is 12,4 km long. Over this distance, you climb 1300 heightmeters. The average percentage is thus 10.5 %.
