A year ago I almost became a Suicide Girl. It’s an “alt porn” website that is a community of indie, emo and rocker pin up girls. To my mind, all things cool. I applied, was accepted as a model and submitted my first set of photos. The set was met with enthusiasm, my account was opened and at the last possible moment I chickened out. Now, before you all lose your shirts and tell me what a bad Buddhist I am, let’s get a couple of things straight. I don’t go around saying “I’m a Buddhist,” first of all. I am a geek who studies Buddhism, which means I read the books, participate in sangha and sit daily. The other thing is, in Buddhism, nothing is inherently good, nothing inherently bad. The trick is finding the Middle Way, traditionally interpreted as “non-extremism.” Is Suicide Girls extreme? That was really my question all along.
