(08/13/07) Marcia the Penguins: Marcia Gay Harden sambas into the Tony Awards looking like she's just a high-rise, fruit-packed hat away from starring in the Broadway production of "Bananas! The Life and Times of Carmen Miranda." While we commend the actress for her restraint in not accessorizing her black-and-white, flamenco-inspired blight with a pair of maracas (especially since she already seems to have several castanets hanging from her neck), we must take issue with her fluffy, puffy sleeves. Harden apparently couldn't resist the cutesy trimmings from Cruella de Vil's new canine couture collection, and she highlights her campy fishtailed frock by strapping a couple of hapless bichon frises to each arm. (08/13/07) Groom With an Ew: Quiz time, people. Helena Bonham Carter puts the ooky in kooky while (a) trying to win first prize in a Björk-a-like contest; (b) shopping for the perfect pair of floppy, bell-topped shoes to complement her court jester costume; (c) attempting to raise awareness of London's homeless population by donning duds she'd earmarked for donation, which explains her dubious decision to wear Brad Pitt's weight-lifting belt from "Fight Club" with a tattered Victorian blouse straight off the set of "A Room With a View"; or (d) testing her theory that using an oversize Magic Eye image as a skirt is a great way to distract people from the fact that neither deep conditioner nor a comb has touched her once lusciously cascading locks for a long, long time. (08/13/07) Blushed Away: "I love him," gushes Eva Green of Dior designer John Galliano, the man responsible for her Pepto Bismol-by-way-of-Bazooka-hued haute couture abomination. "He has the Dior chic and, on top of that, a certain madness." Well, we definitely buy that last part. Sanity doesn't seem to have played a significant role in the unconventional couturier's creation of the Bond beauty's hilariously high-fashion frock, what with its erratic embroidery and frostinglike fabric layers that would look far more appetizing atop a little girl's birthday cake. Galliano appears to have pieced together the outré outfit after catching a double feature of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," finding equal inspiration in the colorful robes of ancient China and the bawdy camp of a trio of Down Under cross-dressers. Eva earns extra guffaws by setting off her gilded getup with a less-than-fetching Femullet and hot pink ankle-tie platforms so...See less

(08/13/07) Barred and Feathered: Want to make a strong impression on the red carpet? Try to avoid styling a gown that bleeds right into it. Sienna Miller and Claudia Schiffer step out for a Valentino soiree in carpet-complementing couture that calls to mind the subtle scarlet hues found on both a Chili's menu and on Kool-Aid's portly, anthropomorphic pitcher. On the left, Sienna is the world's most expensive feather duster in a leotard-topped, red-tufted tragedy that would have even Woody Woodpecker saying "Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Alas, the Vogue-adored starlet adds to her troubles by going accessory-free, opting instead to set off her un-plucky plumes by smearing on the Joker's clownish lips and Joan Crawford's trademark caterpillar-inspired eyebrows. Meanwhile, the statuesque Claudia slouches under the figure-destroying powers of her convoluted, cutout designer-wear, which seems to have sentenced her bellybutton to hard time in bow-tie prison. (08/13/07) The Good, the Plaid and the Ugly: Somewhere, a kindergartner throws a tantrum and demands that the bumpy bronzed lady take off her favorite party dress before she gets cooties all over it. A scantily plaid Jessica Simpson doesn't even try to cover those suckers up (TM her dad) as she promotes her new swimwear line in an eye-poppingly (seriously, careful where you point those things) undersized frock that would look equally at home hanging in the big girl section of Gymboree and clinging to the mammose endowments of an off-duty Scores dancer. The black-rooted, newly hard-bodied blonde finishes off her oh-so-sophisticated side boobage-y ensemble with platform ankle-strap heels so high they likely leave her feeling even dizzier than usual. (08/13/07) What Price Glory?: How many wrong turns does your life have to take before you wake up one day and decide, "I know! I'll make a name for myself by wearing the most craptacular clothes possible to any red carpet event I can weasel my way into!"? Such is the sad, sorry life of Phoebe Price, so-called "former international model" and current "entrepreneur," whose raison d’être is posing for posterity in frocks foul enough to ensure her picture is mocked by the masses. Sure, it's a mortifying claim to fame, but it's the path she has chosen. That doesn't mean we have to play along, however. Instead, we'll accentuate the positive, like how Price's hot pink ruffled prom dress puts the "bubble" -- if not the "yum" -- in "Bubble Yum," and how her tomato-y tresses are the perfect mélange of Carrot Top's frizz and Ronald McDonald's 'fro. Then there's her apple-cheeked, mile-wide smile, which she's skillfully able to flash with nary a fine line or wrinkle -- or pesky expression -- popping up....See less

(08/13/07) Kim-propriety: Belly chains are called that for a reason. Much as Lil' Kim might try to convince herself otherwise, the "belly" part isn't merely a suggestion. The diminutive rapper hits the TomKat-hosted "Welcome to America" bash for David and Victoria Beckham (no, we don't know why she's there) wedged into what is best described as a kidney chain, which might be just the thing if you're worried about unwittingly having your organs harvested, but at a chichi Los Angeles soiree it's decidedly déclassé. Adding to Kim's woes are her uncouth accoutrements, including her slick, baby oil-slathered torso; trowel-applied face paint; Sharpie-drawn eyebrows; anti-social BlackBerry; and alarmingly prominent above-the-lip mole, which aims for Marilyn Monroe but crash-lands on malignant. (08/13/07) String Sleaze: No one tells Britney Spears what to do, y'all. When that super-mean stylist from OK! magazine asked her not to eat her lunch in a borrowed couture dress, she defiantly wiped chicken grease all over it. And when that rude manager at Olive Garden informed the moldering, weave-challenged mother of two that no, they couldn't make pasta primavera without "all those vegetables and crap," she showed just who's boss by tucking an entire platter of spaghetti into the bodice of her black strapless tube sock dress and storming off into the night, hoisting her carbohydrate-stuffed get-up in triumph.
