Tibetans have a unique brand of Buddhism which frames their understanding of the world, but I would not say they are any more enlightened than the rest of us. My husband gets angry in traffic and complains about his job just like anybody else but the difference, I think, is how he relates to people at their core and doesn't get drawn into the crazy consumerism so prevalent in the US. You have to have a strong sense of who you are not to get sucked in by false values. Like Native Americans, I think the Tibetan worldview is greatly influenced by their environment. If you ever get a chance to visit Tibet or the more remote areas of Nepal (Mustang) or India (Ladakh), you will see a barren and forbidding landscape. I imagine that living in that environment would make one more apt to focus on the human element.

Hi, Im Bogdancer from Ireland. I like your page, as I always had a feeling that the people of Tibet have some special wisdom. I think that their thoughts and culture are probably linked to the beautiful terrain, Himalayas etc. We, in the Western World seem to be confused by our own beliefs and the actual discord that those beliefs seem to have with nature.
Thanks for your contribution 'dharmabummer' and also thanks to 'janie'.
Best Regards.
Bogdancer (Donie).
