(03/21/08) Evelyn Lux died peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2008. She is shown above with “Pete,” a sweet older Golden Retriever whom she adopted from Retrievers and Friends. Pete (originally called “Clete”) came to our group desperately in need of his own home, and he was fostered by Evelyn’s son, Mike. We weren’t surprised that Pete found his home within Mike’s own family. The Lux’s have a special place in their hearts for animals, and it was certainly true of Evelyn as well. Mike had this to say of his Mom and Dad: “They were just two people past 90 years of age who knew that their love for dogs only intensified as the years passed by. It multiplies. For each dog in your past that you loved, the new dog brings all that love out, and a little extra that you hadn't mined yet.” Our sympathies are with the Lux family, who will miss the love of gentle Evelyn, who has joined her husband and special Golden Pete, both of whom passed before her.See less
