(09/13/10) This necklace features a Victorian Gutta Percha high relief cameo as a pendant. The cameo dates to the 1870s and measures 2 inches tall, 1.75 inches wide, and is .75 inches thick at the tallest point. The book price on this piece alone is $200-$400. I suspended the cameo from a 20 inch strand of restrung faceted Cherry Amber Bakelite beads of graduating size. Between the beads I added tiny faceted French jet beads as spacers. The Bakelite beads look black in diffused light, but when even slightly back lit, they smolder with the richest mahogany red. These beads are the most sought after by collectors and the book price on a strand such as this is between $300 to $600. I just couldnt help myself from combining these two treasures in order to make this showstopping original. This piece would make an exquisite addition to anyones collection. Snatch it up before I decide to keep it in mine! ;-) Here are some other examples of my Altered Heirlooms: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/24645908...See less

(09/13/10) **Unique Designs in Steampunk Jewelry** This one of a kind Neo Victorian wonder was made using an upcycled Victorian pocket case that measures 1.3 inches in diameter. The case is quite ornate with a floral design embossed on the back with a little scene depicting a house and a tree. It is made of rose gold fill. The glass crystal is original and is in mint condition. Within this case I mounted a TINY skull of a parakeet that is grasping a pearl in it's beak. I added a swirl of goose down, reminiscent of cobwebs, about the skull for added texural contrast. The skull has been altered in order to be set on on angle creating a much more interesting view. It is suspended from an antiqued brass chain along which I added white Swarovski pearls. The chain measures 18 inches long. This necklace is *not* encased in resin. Air flows free under the glass and throughout the inside of the pocket watch case, the same as in shadow boxes. This is truly a stunning piece! The shipping charged are for...See less

(09/13/10) This necklace features an early Victorian locket suspended from a strand hand knotted of pearls in a classic Victorian style with a gold plated pocket watch fob connector. The locket is gold plated and dates to around 1870. It is in good condition with has a nice patina due to age. I believe that there was another arrow pointing up, like the one on the bottom, that has broken off at some point during this locket's long life. One photo is present, though there is a lip under the other side that could hold another photo just as securely. It measures 1.25 inches from the top of the ring to the bottom of the locket, is 7/8s of an inch wide, and is 1/4 an inch thick. It features an applied design of Etruscan Revival arrows and flourishes. I selected the finest quality freshwater pearls imported from Japan. They measure 6mm round and they look almost exactly like cultured pearls with a rich luster only found in high quality specimens. I hand knotted the strand and it measures 15 inches....See less

(09/13/10) **Unique Designs in Steampunk Jewelry** This one of a kind, wearable work of art is known as a Kafka Clock. It's creation was influenced by biomechanics, the novella "Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka in which the hero (or rather anti-hero) gradually turns into an insect with the idle ticking away of time, and by the aesthetics of the modern movement known as Steampunk; a sub-culture based on Victorian Invention, such as the steam powered engine and other mechanical devices that go whirr, whiz, and POP! This unique piece features an antique watch movement enhanced with the addition of natural, untreated African Jade, Peridot, and Chrysoprase cabochons and a jewel-like Sagra beetle specimen from Java. The combination of which illustrates the beauty of human invention as well as the splendors of Nature's own handiwork. These necklaces are *not* encased in resin. Air flows free under the glass and throughout the inside of the pocket watch case, the same as in shadow boxes. It can be worn as a...See less

(09/13/10) For your consideration lovely little padlock bracelet was made circa 1900. Its is made of rose gold fill and with detailing of two Amethyst colored Czech glass stones and a faux pearl. It closes with a heart shaped padlock that is made of brass. It is in very good condition and the padlock clasp works perfectly. It measures 7 inches long and just over .25 inch wide. Stunning and oh-so Victorian! A few notes on antique and vintage items and my experience with them: I have been raised around antiques. My uncle was an auctioneer and dealer since long before I was born and, having no children of his own, took me on to pass down his personal legacy. He has been teaching me about the subtleties and details in which one can tell the genuine article from the fake and reproduced since I was a small child. Since I have been working hand in hand with him in our antique businesses. Making vintage inspired jewelry has also given me a leg up in the world of antique jewelry as lately I have seen the...See less

(09/13/10) This necklace is named after Anastasia Romanov; the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. She is glorified in fiction as the only member of the Romanov family to have escaped the wrath of Bolshevik secret police, though this has recently been disproven due to DNA testing. She was cannonized in 2000 by the Russian Orthodox Church as a "Passion Bearer"; someone who faces death with a Christlike manner. This choker length necklace features a Victorian locket dating to around 1860 suspended from a 15 inch strand of hand-knotted vintage French Jet beads. The locket is gold plated and exhibits an applied design of an Eastern Orthodox cross with a tiny seed pearl set within it's heart. It still retains one frame and the original glass that would typically be used to display a lock of hair. It measures just over 1.5 inches form the top of the bail to the bottom of the locket and is .75 inches wide. I hand knotted the necklace using reclaimed vintage French Jet beads that date to the 1920s....See less

(09/13/10) This necklace features a reclaimed pendant from an early Art Deco necklace, circa 1920. I gave the pendant new life by showcasing it in this lovely design, highlighted by modern Czech glass beads in the same golden Topaz and powder almond Swarovski pearls along the chain. The necklace measures 17 inches and I added a 2 inch extender chain to enable a perfect fit. The pendant measures 1.5 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall. The matching earrings measure 2.25 inches from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the drop. Stunning! (09/13/10) **Unique Designs in Steampunk Jewelry** This one of a kind Neo Victorian wonder was made using a recycled Victorian pocket case that measures just over 1 inch in diameter. The case is made of rose gold fill and has a lovely design on flower blossoms embossed on the bezel holding the glass lens. Within this case I mounted a skull of a mouse I suspended the piece from an 18 inch chain along which I added beautiful beads of pale pink coral. This necklace is *not* encased in resin. Air flows free under the glass and throughout the inside of the pocket watch case, the same as in shadow boxes. Delicate and lovely! The ultimate Steampunk accessory! The creation of my Ossuary Relics was inspired by the Sedlec Ossuary, or Bone Church, outside of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic. There is a long history of how this tiny little church was a favorite burial place of the Czech between 1200s and the 1700s. Countless remains were transported there during various plagues and wars and it began to get...See less

(09/13/10) **Unique Designs in Steampunk Jewelry** This is a GORGEOUS Steampunk necklace I made from a BREATHTAKING movement from an antique pocket watch suspended from a glorious pair of antiqued silver plated wings. This necklace is utterly gorgeous, especially in the way it lays on the decollete, highlighting the clavicle bones of the wearer. The wings each measure 2.5 inches long and the pocket watch movement measures 1.25 inches in diameter. The circumference of the necklace measures 16 inches and I added a 2 inch extender chain to enable the wearer a perfect fit. This piece was featured in the San Francisco Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay online: http://www.sfbg.com/blogs/pixel_vision/2009/06/maker_faire_top_5_best_of_baza.html This necklace was also featured on the television show One Tree Hill. (09/13/10) **Unique Designs in Steampunk Jewelry** This is a STUNNING Neo Victorian Steampunk necklace and earring parure that I made featuring an antique pocket watch plate and picture button, both components hailing from the 1880s. The pocket watch plate is suspended lavalier style from an ornate connector upon which I set a lovely and rare 1/2 diameter Victorian picture button featuring a three dimensional image of a bee with faux cut steel detailing around the edge. I added tiny 3mm honey colored Czech glass beads along the second festoon chain to highlight the 1/2 inch central teardrop. The main chain measures 16 inches and I added a 2 inch extender chain to allow for versatility in size adjustments. The lavalier bit measures 3 inches from the top of the connector to the bottom of the pocket watch plate. The plate itself measures 1.75 inches wide. The dainty matching earrings measure 1.25 inches form the top of the earwire to the bottom of the drop. This set is ultra feminine and simply...See less
