Inspired by the color of water when staring out over the ocean, I used many shades and textures of blue glass, including royal blue, sky blue, opaque light blue, textured blue/green, as well as clear. The circles were soldered together free-form into a spherical shape. A light fitting is installed into the bottom of the lamp, but can be easily removed if you wish to install it as a permanent light fitting or suspended by the cord for use as a pendant lamp. This lamp is special in that it catches the light from the bulb inside, as well as the sunlight outside. When this happens you can see circles of colored light around the base of the lamp as well as on any nearby walls. The switch for the lamp is built into the lamp cord, which allows for easy use.See less

The bottom of the skirt is a tiered hand dyed grey chiffon crinoline with grey scalloped lace trim. Its completed by a aqua lace waistband and a grey scalloped lace sash. It's reinforced with an additional layer of cotton and a 3rd canvas layer. It's lined with a decorative toile canvas. The focal point on the front panel is a row of industrial hook and eyes trimmed with black lace. It does not open down the front, the hook and eyes are just for show. silk dupioni (aka raw silk) is a textured silk that has a visible vertical grain. I love using it for this design because it has a nice antiqued feel, somewhat unpolished and post apocalyptic.
