(11/25/10) Meet Dr. Beulenpest, steampunk plague doctor. Made of 5-6 veg tan leather with cold cast aluminum eyepieces and beak. Steel dome rivets and buckles complete the look. This mask is all handstitched with waxed thread. The lenses are dark enough to keep people from seeing in, but light enough for you to negotiate even in poor lighting. The five straps are adjustable to fit most adult sized heads. The leather was dyed violet, then antiqued black over that to give the mask a look of antiquity. Mask may vary slightly from photos. (11/25/10) Gasp! Who knew steam engines were capable of producing such foul and wretched air? Give me a horse any day. This leather mask with resin faux metal fittings won’t protect you against toxic air, but it will make you look cool. Hand shaped and stitched, every part except for the buckles was designed and fabricated by me. Both eyepieces can be looked through, although not at the same object. Ventilation holes in the respirator allow for easy breathing. Five straps and steel buckles are all adjustable for size. This mask will fit up to a 24” diameter head. This mask fits over eyeglasses. The mask is put on by placing the bottom over the chin and then pulling the top three straps up and over the head. Lastly the two bottom straps are buckled. Mask may vary slightly from photos. I changed my old design; completely re-worked just for Etsy. ^_^ The mask is hand carved from 8oz leather, each hair individually carved by hand with a 1/4 angle ceramic blade. Then the mask is shaped without a mold or form, & painted with Liquitex acrylics in black and white. I sealed it with a waterproof acrylic clear coat for durability. The mask will come with black organza ribbons for wearing and a suede loop for displaying on the wall. This is a signed, dated original.See less

The mask is beautifully decorated with patterns of varying shades of gold along the lower portion of the mask as well as the nose and outlining the top portion of the mask. The top portion of the mask is decorated with aged music scores. The mask is ideal to be worn at any masquerade, Venetian Ball or Mardi Gras event. The headdress is colored in beige with musical notes, which greatly compliments the decorative mask. In December 1985, he set up a craftsman studio in Bologna where his romantic leather masks and papier-mch works are hand-crafted. In fact, the artist s personal favorite creation is a mask entitled Notte, which is a combination of leather and papier-mch. This mask is needle tatted with black cotton thread and adorned with many swarovski crystals around the edges. Soft and comfortable this mask is perfect for any Masquerade Ball, Mardi Gras Carnivale, Halloween party or any other time you'd love to dress up! The eyes and bridge of the nose are enforced with pliable, thread covered wire allowing you to adjust the fit of the mask to your own face. The lace is stiffened only on the top section to enforce the crystals and is not attached to a mask form but is free standing. It ties comfortably with a black ribbon threaded through the tatting that is easily removed for display if desired.
