(02/06/10) Inspired by a shoe designed by Vincente Rey, I set about trying to create a lace shoe. These spat-like pieces are one of the results. they are hand needle tatted with elements of vintage patterns and original designs in black cotton thread. The lace itself measures 7.5" with a degree of stretch. Since it laces up the back with ribbon they should fit most people. If your leg is significantly larger, you may provide measurements so that I can modify the design for a better fit. Please note, this will be at a small additional charge however. The ankle corsets can be made in any available color as well, simply check my policy page for colors and indicate which you would like at checkout. If no color is indicated black will be sent. Allow up to 1 week for creation of any custom order. Shoes are shown for illustrative purposes and are not included with the ankle corsets.See less

(02/06/10) This superb parasol (from a major estate in Palm Beach, Florida) is a rare find for the serious collector. It was part of a collection of unique lace parasols. The parasol cover has panels of black silk and black Chantilly lace. On the silk portion are botanicals alternating with miniature paintings of figures dressed in 18th century clothing. This style of painting was typically found on hand painted Victorian fans, as seen in the picture below of a fan we sold several years ago. The painting itself is not unusual, but its appearance on a parasol is rare. I have never found another one like it. The carriage style parasol has a detachable handle that makes it more compact when not in use. The tip of the handle is an unusual shade of amber/rose mother-of-pearl. It is etched with bronze and silver floral branches. The shaft is black painted wood. The parasol, which was meant to be unlined, is beautifully finished on the inside with silk-covered spokes. Unconcerned with our wares, they were only after our ale. Sadly for them, we are a dry ship but we did hand over a lovely case of coffee that made them extra peppy. In their haste and zealotry, the pirate's first mate took off her boots and ran off back to her ship without them, frappucino in hand. Without as much as a thanks, our barrista was about to chuck them straight at her head until he realized hey, these are great boots!
