RECYCLED SWEATERS KNIT SCARF AND HAT Thank goodness for laundry malfunctions. Creator Sue Burns got the idea for her one-of-a-kind scarves and hats after her husband shrunk two of her sweaters. Not wanting to throw them out, she combined materials to make something new. And the rest is history. These hats and scarves are a montage of second-hand sweaters, cozy shirts and tweed suits that give unwanted clothes another chance to strut their stuff. Lined with micro-fleece for extra-warmth (Burns designed them to withstand Michigan winters), these fabric collages have a wonderful handmade and casual look to them.
