A sick person with a highly-contagious illness. On the sickie's behalf, we'll also point out that sometimes when you're sick, you just don't want to see other humans. You feel horrible. Insanity reigns when the dried demon parts Kagome unwittingly brought into the present day are reconstituted during her school cultural festival. Inu-Yasha, his ears hidden beneath an incongruous baseball cap, destroys them--while making mincemeat of Kagome's class play (an episode that recalls the performance of "Romeo and Juliet" in Ranma 1/2). Fox-spirit Shippo begins to come into his own as a character, claiming a bigger role in the story and arguing with the powerful Inu-Yasha. At the end of season 3, Inu-Yasha destroyed the magical barrier protecting his enemy Naraku: the evil demon fled, leaving no trail. Naraku's absence allows dozens of minor demons to emerge from hiding and cause problems that Kagome, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Inu-Yasha must undo. Naraku remains hidden, creating a new body for himself as his protective barrier was shattered at end of Season 3. Kagome, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Inu-Yasha spend most of these episodes battling the Band of Seven, a group of bloodthirsty mercenaries whom Naraku brought back from the dead with shards of the Sacred Jewel. More savage in death than they were in life, the seven zombies must be fought with strength and intelligence. But dangerous as they are, the Band of Seven are minor players.
