I love the vibrant blue color of the recycled beads and the oh, so cute handmade resin charm that make up these cute earrings. So, I have come across a lot of products and goods in the nine months that I have been writing this blog and none have made me laugh aloud like these fabulously clever notecards by Just Another Day. Customizable by you so you can tell that um...special person exactly what you think of them, I especially love the card's simple and elegant design, lettering and lovely brown envelope and then...wham...the inside can be as rude, funny or crude as you want it to be. How I wish I had one of these when I quit my last job! The card above would have been great or, if you aren't quite so bold, one that simply said "I quit" for example. Oh, the possibilities are endless!! Now, lest you think I just have evil in my head...the bonjour card (pictured below) would be perfect for my french speaking father-in-law. 4 custom cards are only $7.50. However, considering the look that might cross the recipient's face, I'd say that's a bargain. No better yet, Priceless. See less

Whee!! I popped into the Red Light near my apartment (as opposed to the picked over one in the University District) and found some truly darling dresses. I couldn't resist trying on this day dress with an open weave collar and springy green print. It was much too big for me--I'm pulling the waist tight behind my back in the picture here. Unfortunately, my sewing skills have yet to venture into making or altering clothes--and with such frail fabric, I'd be terrified of ruining the thing. This dress, however, is going to be in full effect for this weekend's wedding. It fits perfectly, is incredibly flattering and features the kind of detail you rarely see in dresses outside of Anthropologie. I love the placement of the zipper, the cape effect, and of course the lacy detail and beads on the bust. I think it might have been a formal dress (for a 1960s prom?) or a bridesmaid dress because close examination of the hem shows it's been shortened. What's more, this baby is perfect for the... It's a great day to skip work and curl up in your bedfurs and sleeping silks with a good movie, like one you've never seen, like Dagon. It's about a town where it just keeps raining until everyone there turns into a fish-servant to a horrible elder Gefilte God. For you, it's just a movie, but we're living it, baby. I have a pet theory about Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler. For whatever reason, I feel like whenever they run into each other on the red carpet, Kellie is like a puppy dog who's just thrilled to try to hump Carrie's leg, while Carrie will simply have none of it. In fact, I imagine that Carrie just slides past Kellie without a word, merely turning up her nose and looking away. This is based not at all in any fact -- though I have heard the Underwood is kind of a pain -- but mostly on Underwood's general demeanor, which seems prim and a bit self-impressed. That being said, she's certainly dressed for the part on the CMT red carpet: She looks very pretty and sweetly conservative -- if much, much tinier than she used to be -- in a way that works with her sort of Reese Witherspoon-y, debutante-y looks. beearo was a big hit here back in march of 2006, so i was psyched to hear from the brothers at beearo about their latest products: wall vinyls. my natural inclination is to say "more wall vinyls?" but i actually like these. why? because they're made of environmentally sustainable real wood veneers. each pattern and style is repositionable and removes cleanly from most surfaces so you can play around with designs and patterns. i love the installation shots on their website- they have such a nice modern feel to them and it's great to see someone working with vinyls that don't harp on the baroque look. i also like that you can use them to create small, discreet patterns rather than something that screams "I HAVE BIRDS ON MY WALL!". you can choose from 16 patterns and shapes (from which you can construct just about any pattern you can dream of) with either a walnut or teak finish right here. each kit contains 43 elements for $212.02. it's great to see people working with vinyls in a way...
