Way back when, the Baltimore Colts drafted John Elway as their first round pick. Not sure what happened, but Elway refused to play for the Colts and he theatened to play baseball instead. I believe the New York Yankees had the rights on him. Thus for most of the 80's, John Elway was considered a cry baby and when Denver lost their Super Bowls against the 49ers and the Redskins nobody cared when John looked dismayed on the sidelines. But he hung on in Denver all those times. And in the late 90's, with Mike Shanahan and Terrell Davis, John Elway finally got his Super Bowl ring in 1997 in a victory over Brett Favre's Green Bay Packers. He came back for his last year in 1998 to beat the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII. See less

The real LT just happens to be the meanest and hard-hitting linebacker to ever play football. In 1981 the New York Giants drafted Lawrence Taylor out of the University of North Carolina. Taylor earned NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors three times throughout his career while helping the Giants to two Super Bowl titles. The 1990 New York Giants finished the season with a 13-3 record. The Giants beat the San Francisco 49ers by two points in the NFC Championship game and were matched up against the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV. The Bills missed a field goal with time expiring, giving the Giants a 20-19 Super Bowl victory. Lawrence Taylor finished his career in 1993 with a total of 132.5 sacks and a ten time Pro Bowl selection. See less

With the NFL celebrating its 75th Anniversary, the Lions took the field wearing replicated jerseys from the 1935 season.
