Since I'll rocking the broken toe look—aka no heels— for the next few weeks (I tripped wearing a pair of heels and chipped one of my toe bones!), I thought I'd devote a post to sensible and stylish shoes. As foxy as heels are, we can't wear them all the time and these flats are just the things to snazz up your favorite casual jeans outfits. I need some...so I don't have to wear slippers for the next month!

Metallic Oxfords from Kimchi Blue - $58
"Mai Tai" Flat from Jeffrey Campbell - $100
Spectator Oxford from Candela NYC - $198

What do you think? Are you a heels-only girl or do you rock the flats sometimes too?

Mallard Heels
Fellow Kaboodle editor Jennifer hipped me to these amazing duck-shaped heels from Chie Mihara ($350 at Anthropologie) yesterday and it was love at first sight for both of us. The suede ankle-strap shoes (which already have a rather duck-like profile) are accented with a mallard-shaped cutout on each toe. I need these shoes!

What about you? Lovin' 'em or are they a little too out-there for you?

Harajuku Lovers
We're always mad for plaid so we're lovin' these heels from Gwen Stefani's lower-priced line Harajuku Lovers ($90). Available in red and blue versions, these hidden platform triple-strap mary janes are ladylike with an edge so they're perfect to pair with all your winter basics.

J. Aldridge by Sea of...
These adorable wedge ankle boots ($128) are part of Jane Aldridge's collection for Urban Outfitters. Jane Aldridge is a blogger whose Sea of Shoes blog has become one of the go-to spots on the internet for fab styling and commentary. The girl has a closet most would kill for. The most astounding part—Aldridge is a mere 17-years-old! Urban Outfitters tapped into her fab style and asked her to design a collection of shoes and, while many of them are cute, these are our personal faves. Now if only they came in size 9.5 (my size!).

A new study conducted by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists found 37% of women would wear uncomfy shoes as long as they were fashionable. 80% of the women surveyed said they suffered from foot problems like corns or ingrown nails. Yikes! Lorraine Jones of the aforementioned Society, suggests women's everyday shoes should have a rounded toe and a heel no higher than one-and-a-half-inches tall. Try telling that to the ladies I work with!

How about you? Do you every buy and wear uncomfy shoes? Leave a comment and let us know.
