Project Runway
season six runner-up Althea Harper showed her first collection in a gallery downtown tonight. Harper began her show with a moment of silence dedicated to "her mentor Lee McQueen," with whom she interned while taking classes at Central St. Martins College of Art & Design. While her designs weren't exactly up to McQueen's standards, Harper sent some wearable designs down the runway. Her form-fitting dresses, hugging the bodies of models whose hairdos were topped with Vaseline, giving them a bit of an "Addicted to Love" video girl, would be perfect for retailers like Shopbop. She also featured chunky knits (such a fall trend!) and other designs that were obviously influenced by her "minimalist and downtown chic" aesthetic. Let us know what you think of Althea and her designs!

  • Some of the stuff does look very wearable but I'm just not breathless and wowed. Report Spam Posted by alicatstrut at 4:50 AM on 02/17/10
