Sea glass, also known as beach glass or mermaid's tears, is nature's answer to bottles, china and pottery carelessly thrown into the sea many years ago. The glass is tumbled on the ocean floor, smoothed by the waves and sand until it washes up on shore, waiting to be found by a lucky passerby. We created interactive software to morph, twist, and subdivide each design, transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure. The final design is built up layer by layer in durable nylon plastic using Selective Laser Sintering, a kind of 3D printing. I can make another size and the termination you prefer, but have in account that shapes and textures won't be the same even using same technique. this ring has set a snake vertebrae into the esteem of a jewel. a light colored, brass vintage filigree wrap holds the bone in place and is adhered to an oak leaf adjustable ring base. the serpent has had a sorted past. in some cultures it is seen as an evil being that has caused the downfall of man. in many others, it is seen as a creature with potent powers. here, it is meant to hold the meaning of transformation, as the snake often sheds its skins to make way for new scales. often i feel this way, that i am shedding the excess layers of my person to make way for new ideas and ways of seeing. the metaphor of the vertebrae suggests inner strength, as its part of the spinal column. by setting the vertebrae into the ring this way, it isn't often seen by others for what it is, and adds a delicate air of mystery to your finger. *adjustable ring* See less
