(08/03/07) Unlike Mr. De Long, I’ve yet to make the jump to the future of high definition. I’m pretty content watching television and DVDs on my 27” CRT because, hey: it looks great. But I must say I’m tempted by the new HDHomeRun from El Gato and SiliconDust, though mainly for the recording capabilities. El Gato’s other products usually rely on being plugged into your computer, but the HDHomeRun plugs instead into your over-the-air antenna or your cable box and then communicates with your computer over the network. And the box has two separate HD tuners, so you can record or watch two programs at once. The package also comes with two copies of El Gato’s EyeTV software, so you can manage the HDHomeRun from two separate computers. The device will sell for $199 from El Gato’s website and might be attractive to those who are looking for a good way to record HD content. So, er, not me at present.See less
