Traditionally, the countries include Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE and Yemen. But different interest groups use the term 'Middle East' differently. Some, like Britain, include other Islam-dominated African countries of the Sahara region like Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, Libya and Tunisia while referring to the Middle-East. But in a true geographical sense, it is best to include only Egypt from the African continent in the volatile region of Middle East, and perhaps Libya too for the sake of its open support to Iran in the Iran-Iraq war. The only thing, every once in a while challenging articles actually do pop up. If you're looking at the right places you'll find at least one of these every couple of days. These articles are hard to get through and take some time, so they start piling up. Before you know it, you have a list of links and a folder full of PDF files and you wish you had a year in a small hut in the middle of the forest with nobody around for miles so you could catch up. It should come as no surprise that weaker attacks are more common than stronger attacks, but a power law distribution makes a much more specific prediction. It turns out that if individual conflicts (for example, a terrorist attack or a guerilla raid) are classified according to the resulting number of fatalities n, then the number of such conflicts occurring in any given year is proportional to n raised to a constant power. There are exceptions: sometimes the original is slow because it is badly thought out, or it takes up too much space because it was hacked together from the start. But much of the time optimization is the process of taking nice code and making it longer, more complex, harder to read. In short, less nice. Really we should stop using the term optimization. We should call it what it really is: screwing up the code so that the it performs better or maybe justifiable mutilation. You have to know when to stop, when the mutilation to performance ratio is just too high. It also describes the rate at which individuals lose interest in a film once it has opened, which means the probability of them going to see it decreases. Using these parameters, the researchers came up with a quantitative indicator that provides a good estimate of a film's commercial value. This indicator does not consider polls and surveys about the film, such as top-ten lists, and is based on how many people go to see a particular film during the time it is showing in cinemas.
