A background check is the process of verifying a person’s past records, usually criminal, using public documents and police records. In today’s tumultuous times, citizens have been more careful in dealing with strangers even to the people that they mingle with everyday. Criminals are usually pretentious and deceiving by looks. Some can be persuasive and trustworthy at first. The problem arises when these people we trust have some dark sides and when unleashed can be very dangerous. It will be just logical that even for a babysitter, background check is a requirement. While searching over some news articles over the Internet, I happen to read an archive report about a day-care center in Rhode Island. The day-care center was shut down due to the discovery of three sex offenders on the staff of the said large school.
