I didn't add a pocket because I wanted to keep this as basic as possible. (plus, I like it better without a pocket.) If you like this fabric, I got it at Reprodepot. The red floral is "Lotus" by Amy Butler and I have no idea what the vintage kitchen fabric is called and I can't find it on the site. (and I'm mad because I need some more!) What she seems to love about it is the soft coziness on one side and cool silkiness on the other. It was a fancy, generous gift (thanks Stella!) so instead of buying a new one, I was hoping to be able to replace it by making one myself. Did I succeed? Let's see what Scarlet thinks... It's a simple two sided blanket, but adding satin binding is a little tricky, get the how-to after the jump! 1. Pre-wash and cut your fabrics. I used a cute owl fleece I found at JoAnne's and some pink poly-satin. I cut my blanket to 43"X36" which is sort of random but it worked. Pin them together wrong-sides facing: 2. This design is unique in that there is not a seam down the middle on the back. You could even use a different fabric on the back for a semi-reversible pillow, which is something like having more pillows, right? Find the DIY for Sham-Style Pillowcases after the jump. The sizes listed are for a king-size pillow. You can easily alter the dimensions by measuring a pillowcase that fits your pillow and adding 5" to the height and width. For one king-size pillow I used: 1 piece 26" x 36" 1 piece 26" x 35" 1 piece 26" x 9" (I sewed the narrow leftover strips of fabric from the other two pieces together to make this third piece, allowing one pillow to be made from 1.5 yards of fabric total. Now, let’s celebrate my success, people. I took this long-sleeved t-shirt belonging to Ryan, and while Julian was asleep, I cut the two required pieces to make pants. About 5 minutes. It’s just a left leg and a right leg. Then, I sewed them together. Now ten minutes have passed. The kid was still sleeping! Then, Heather and Holden came over. Julian woke up, and while the boys wreaked havoc in my bedroom, tossing plastic shovels, cotton balls and Cheerios this way and that, Heather made 75% of a pair of lounge pants for Holden while I coached her and wrangled her baby.
