Continuing the past! I am always inspired by the past! Lately I have been fascinated with Cigarette Girls of the 1940's. This fun piece was made after I thought it would be exciting to re-create some cigarette girl hats with my own modern day touch! This is the second creation. This creation is made of a buckram wired base. It is covered in a red Italian wool. I have then decorated this lovely with some black tailor tape and two plastic buttons. The buckram base, the fabric and decor are entirely hand-stitched. It is lined, in a black lining, for a wonderful finish. This hat contains a black elastic cord that assists in holding the hat on the head. It also contains two loops on the sides for addition of combs or clips. See less

Time to look at our autumn wardrobes, and how better to liven things up than with a felted bag in the new seasons colours? Orange, rusty red and tawny browns are very "in" this year. I love these vibrant cheerful colours, I really enjoyed blending the wools as I knitted... This design really uses the unique propeties of my knitting and felting technique, I knit each bag in one piece with no seams which creates this great sculptural design. The strap on this shoulder bag is long enough to wear it across your body, I suggest you take a tape and measure the strap length just to check the bag height for you. I can easily make one with a different length of strap if needed. I hand knit my bags with 3 strands of 4ply (fingering) 100% wool yarn. This time I used Tan and Amber Orange yarns which I blended to creat a great marled effect. I used a pretty floral motif pewter coloured metal button to close this bag.
