It's all about timing. Typically, the best sales occur when new models are introduced and retailers must get rid of old merchandise.
January: Furniture, towels and bed linens (white sales), men's suits, organizing accessories, clothing at consignment stores, calendars, televisions two weeks prior to the Super Bowl, fitness equipment and active wear, running shoes.
February: Furniture, winter clothing, DVD players, camcorders, jewelry, mattresses when last year's models are discounted.
March: Digital cameras. New models come out in March and April and the old ones will be discounted. Frozen foods, strangely enough. Skis and snowblowers if it's been a dry winter.
April: Microwave ovens, portable audio products, room air conditioners.
May: Crystal, china and silver at department stores, refrigerators, household cleaning products. Memorial Day weekend for major appliances.
June: Crystal, china and silver at department stores, electric razors prior to Father's Day.
