HAndy Warhol......
is one of the leading figures and even arguably the most well known figure of the American pop art movement. Most of his work was inspired from subjects such as Coke bottles, Campbell’s soup cans and other popular iconic symbols. Then, seemingly out of the blue, Andy decided to draw flowers. He progressed from individual flowers to silk screenings where he could use that process to create numerous images of the same flower that varied dramatically. He would change the color or size of the original art and have an entirely new piece. His use of repetition challenged long standing ideas about the roles of artists. This new idea of art generated much emotion from the art world. Many loved him for his creativity; others loathed his art and scorned the whole idea of this new process as being any type of art at all. In the end though, Andy prevailed. Art is, after all, meant to stir emotion. Warhol’s art most definitely did just that! See less
