It is working nicely. I have only 2 problems: 1- The phone continues ringing if I don't answer the phone. I want the calls go to my voicemail after 4 or 5 rings; but I just couldn't make it. 2- You always have to dial first 1 to place a call. Hard phones are physical pieces of hardware that plug into your network typically through an ethernet connection. They are the best type to use as they have no dependency on a computer. This means that they will work whether your computer is turned off or does not exist at all. Also, it is very nice to use a regular handset style phone instead of a microphone and computer speakers. One potential disadvantage is that your home network needs to have an unused ethernet port in which to plug the phone in. See less

I know several here have a DTA310 with it having a 'half-loaded' firmware set. Examples of common problems might be: 1. I was running firmware 12.39 in my DTA310 and I decided to load firmware 11.11. Now, it is stuck and I can not upgrade to any firmware. 2. I have a DTA310 that tells me "no application loaded" and is stuck in a downloader mode. It appears that this happens when the boot/downloader firmware gets out of sync with the application firmware. So, if this idea proves to be correct, and you find yourself with a 'stuck' DTA310, think of it this way. You need to try loading the previous firmware back into the DTA310. Thanks to a slight firmware modification, port 80 is now accessible and working on your DTA-310 for SIP. All you have to do is download the patched firmware, update your DTA-310, configure your settings and you're on your way. See less

The Cisco Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA) 186 is a handset-to-Ethernet adaptor that interfaces regular analog phones with IP-based telephony networks. The Cisco ATA 186 has two voice ports that were designed to support legacy analog touch-tone telephones. Unlike the regular Foreign Exchange Station (FXS) ports, these cannot be interfaced with a PBX as the Cisco ATA 186 cannot send out digits on these ports. Both voice ports can be used simultaneously as long as they are configured with different telephone numbers. This document guides you through the initial setup of the Cisco ATA 186 when using the H.323/SIP/SCCP image for the Cisco ATA.
