(04/07/12) When a ship full of Sith warriors arrived in Galactic Alliance space, the fight to destroy it accidentally uncovered a hidden menace: a long-hidden group of clones, secretly created as insidious weapons capable of wielding the Force and heedless of the differences between light side and dark side. Now the clones have escaped—and evidence suggests that they are flawed by genetic disease and violent madness. Jedi Knight Jaden Korr pursues the clones, hoping to heal them but prepared to destroy them. What he doesn’t know is that Sith agents are hot on his heels, determined not only to recover the clones for their Master but to capture Jaden for their own dark-side purposes. In a life-or-death battle, Jaden will confront a shocking reality that will rock him to his core and bring him face-to-face with the question of what makes a man . . . and a Jedi.See less

(04/07/12) I have always been a fan of Old Republic Star Wars fiction from the comic books and on, so I have avidly been following the tales of Darth Bane as they unfolded. I loved the direction of the previous two novels but after finishing this third one I am slightly disappointed. For this reason I can only give it 4 stars. The book is well written and the story is good I just felt that comparatively speaking it was more of a rushed effort. Bottom line: Too short. Maybe my perspective is skewed cause I generally read novels around 400 to 500 pages long but it just seemed that this book is a little too clean and concise. But in hindsight the author does state in his little blurb in the front that this "novel was difficult to complete" and he has also just moved from Canada to Texas so maybe it was a combination of a lot on his plate at once and a deadline needed to be met. Still I would recommend this novel to anyone who wants to see the next chapter of Darth Bane and the Sith unfold. I look...See less

(04/07/12) "The Clone Wars" tells a story about a day in the life of Anakin. This is no rehash of the Cartoon Network's "Animated Clone Wars." Even compared to episodes II & III, many of the prominently featured characters play a much smaller role. This is okay because this story introduces an exciting new character to the Star Wars pantheon: Ahsoka. Ahsoka is Skywalker's apprentice. Along these lines, one of the central themes to "Clone Wars" is the master-apprentice relationship. While this has been done before, the theme is fresh as Anakin and Ahsoka negotiate their relationship. Having nicknames like Skyguy and Snips, their partnership is a contrast to that of Anakin and Obi-Wan. In this story, we delve deeper into the clones. We find a surprising amount of individuality and contemplation. Whether it be their physiology, politics or reproductive habits, we also learn more about the Hutts. Naturally, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress and Darth Sidious are participants. As the title suggests, there...See less

(04/07/12) "The Jedi are not creatures of myth and magic. They are flesh and blood. They bleed. They break." When we last left our Jedi heroes, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker (this was Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth, the first part of a two part story), they were about to crash their vehicle into the Lanteeban countryside after a narrow escape with General Lok Durd's forces. Now, our heroes struggle to reach Trebol, a small damotite mining village. There, they try to blend in and manage their escape. Meanwhile, Tyranus and Sidious grow more suspicious of the events, and Bail asks an old friend, Tryn Netzl, to find a cure for this bioweapon. I Liked: As always, Karen Miller has an absolutely impressive grasp of the main characters. Time and again, I was astounded at how she was able to write Anakin and Obi-Wan so close to their onscreen performances. I also love how she kept bringing up the past with them. For Anakin, it was his life as a slave, his adoration of children, his conflict between...See less

(04/07/12) When the Imperial prison barge Purge–temporary home to five hundred of the galaxy’s most ruthless killers, rebels, scoundrels, and thieves–breaks down in a distant, uninhabited part of space, its only hope appears to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting, derelict, and seemingly abandoned. (04/07/12) Fantasy author Miller joins the Star Wars universe with a two-part adventure featuring Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi. During the Clone Wars (between Episodes II and III), Anakin and Obi Wan, in command of the clone troops, travel across the galaxy to defend the Republic. In Stealth, the pair go undercover to a remote planet where strange rumors hint at a terrible weapon. Not only must they infiltrate the enemy outpost but they must also face down an old enemy and save the Republic from a massively destructive bioweapon. Miller uses her skill at character development to delve into Anakin’s psyche as he struggles with his love for Padme and his extreme sensitivity to the pain of others. In the limited scope provided in this kind of media tie-in book, Miller manages to excel at both creating action scenes and developing fully fleshed characters. The cliff-hanger ending will leave readers clamoring for the sequel. A must-read for Star Wars fans. --Jessica MoyerSee less

(11/16/06) The seventh volume in Dark Horse's Clone Wars graphic-novel series collects the five-part miniseries Obsession, a title referring to Obi-Wan Kenobi and his refusal to believe that Count Dooku's assassin Asajj Ventress is truly dead. It's odd to have Anakin be the rational one, and the climactic showdowns, though exciting, have a sort of "all star" feel to them that make the story seem more like a stand-alone diversion rather than being tightly wound into the regular continuity of the Star Wars universe like most of the Clone Wars volumes. But even if When They Were Brothers doesn't quite measure up to that high standard, it still has the dynamic writing and art of SW veterans Hayden Blackman and Brian Ching. Filling out the volume is an Anakin/Obi-Wan story created for Free Comic Book Day 2005. --David Horiuchi Book Description Many on both sides of the Clone Wars have been wounded or killed. But the war has taken its toll on the survivors, too. Consumed by the belief that the Dark...See less

(11/16/06) "The Last Siege, The Final Truth" concludes the story of Jedi Quinlan Vos' betrayal of the Jedi, a story that began with Count Dooku's courtship of the wayfaring Jedi from Kiffu in Republic #49 (Clone Wars Volume 1: The Defense of Kamino). Over a period of five months prior to the battle of Coruscant, Republic forces lay siege to the city of Saleucami, where a CIS cell under the leadership of former Jedi Sora Bulq is cloning an army of Morgukai and training them in assassination techniques of the Anzati. Jedi Master Tholme infiltrates the Separatists' underground laboratories and carries out hit-and-run guerilla attacks, while a clone army ground assault is led by Jedi Master Rancisis and supported by Vos, Aayla Secura, Sharad Hett, Ausar Auset, Sian Jeisel, and K'Kruhk. All the characters and all the story arcs of the past three years are gathered together here in a tale that easily beats Revenge of the Sith for complexity in character and story development. To cover his Separatist...See less
