This vessel was made by my husband, Danny. He specializes in Goddess images, and this one is my favorite so far in this series. It is made from brown stoneware, thrown on the wheel and altered. While the clay was still a bit wet, he rubbed it with a cloth to bring up the grog and sand in the clay, leaving a rough texture. Inside the vessel is a toasty glaze that turns milky when it pools. Outside I rubbed a clear glaze into the clay, then rubbed it nearly all off, leaving a thin coating of silica. Then I fired it to cone 12. The result is this stunning work. He calls it a kiwi goddess because the texture on the outside is warm and organic, like the skin of a kiwifruit :). On the tummy of the goddess is the three moon symbol and on her lower back is carved an infinity symbol. She is 9 inches (23 cm) tall and 6 inches (15cm) wide at the hips. She is watertight, and hand washable, so she could be used as a vase, if you choose. If you are outside the USA, and are interested in this, Let me... See less
