Line up the slip stitches of the head and the body, and using the long tail from the head, sew the head to the body using whip stitch – insert your needle through both loops of the head stitch, then both loops of the body stitch, and repeat. Supplies needed: G Hook Small amounts of WW yarn Stitch marker or safety pin Buttons for eyes (optional) Terms used Sc = single crochet Sc-dec = single crochet decrease over 2 stitches Ch = chain FO = Finish off, or Fasten off The frog is done in a continous spiral.(unless other wise noted) I would suggest using a stitch marker or a safety pin to mark your place Another tip: when you start the body, you will be working from the bottom up. If after a few rounds, there is holes in the bottom, you can use the beginning tail to sew them shut a bit. I get asked, why doesn’t my “ --------------” (fill in the blank) look like yours?? One of the easiest things to do, pin before sewing. I make up the entire head, and eyes first. Using sewing straight pins (or longer needles) pin the eyes onto the head. From this point on, you will be working in the round. Row 3: *1 sc in first st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * around (12 st). Row 4: *1 sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * around (18 st). Rows 5-11: 1 sc in each sc around. Row 12: 1 sc in each sc around, end and cut yarn at least 12" long to sew banana onto peel. Add safety eyes or embroider face at this point. Attach tapestry or darning needle to white tail just cut. Holding banana in place inside peel, sew neatly 2/3 of the way around. Stuff firmly with stuffing in banana and peel. Finish sewing banana closed. Tie off. Weave in end. Ice Cream Scoop You'll be making a circle, adding a few plain rows, then finishing with a scalloped edge. Rnd 1: With ice cream colour, 4 sc into a ring (4 sts). Rnd 2: sc twice in each st (8 sts). this is the format i first encountered amigurumi patterns in, and i find it much easier to follow than directions written out long hand. the chart gives the total number of stitches (all sc) in each row. to make life easier increases and decreases are usually made in multiples of 6, distributed equally around the row. you will find that as you work this creates an easily memorised pattern. e.g. the legs work up as follows: (inc1= increase by 1 - work 2 sc into the top of one sc of the previous round) row 1: 6 sc into ring (6 sc total) row 2: inc1 all around (12 sc) row 3: 1 sc, inc1 around (18 sc) row 4: 2 sc, inc1 around (24 sc) row 5: 3 sc, inc1 around (30 sc) etc… you can calculate how many stitches between the increases by dividing the previous and upcoming row totals by the difference between them (the number of increases in the next round). e.g. 36 sitches up to 42 is an increase of 6. 36/6=6, 42/6=7. which means you want to turn every 6 stitches of the previous round into 7 in...
