The little people, plants, and dog are not proportionate to the buildings, but my daughter doesn't care. The only thing that is a little confusing is that stacking the buildings on their base pieces (stairs, entryways, arches) is not that intuitive. I brought these blocks out one afternoon when my son was being cranky. I got 1 hour of quiet and fun out of him - 30 minutes with the blocks and 30 minutes with the box they come in!!! They are a great size. My son can hold them easily and bash them together. He also chews on them a lot and, so far, no scratches or chips. My son also loooves the cart. He is very into ropes and tassel like things and he chews and pulls on the rope that is attached to the cart. He turns the cart over to play with the wheels and likes to pick it up and tip all the blocks out with a big "crash". I like the colors of these blocks. They are vivid and bold. I have been playing games like doing a row of all one color with a single "wrong" color and watch him pick up the "odd" one as he can tell it is not right.
