Get Your Hands on a New Chair from Philippe Starck

Philippe Starck Broom Chair

Philippe Starck is undoubtedly one of the postmodern era's foremost product designers. His Louis Ghost chair (which we love!) is now an iconic piece of furniture and can be seen in countless public and private spaces—not to mention television and films.

Starck's latest design is called the Broom chair ($195), named for the reclaimed polypropylene and wood fiber the piece is made from. Apparently the designer drew the shape of the chair in 2003, but it took a decade to be able to produce the chair in these particular eco-friendly materials, as he wanted. "Imagine," says Starck, "a guy who takes a humble broom and starts to clean the workshop, and with this dust he makes new magic." Kind of a cool story.

Broom is available in six colors (all but orange are suitable for outdoor use as well as indoor) and can be pre-ordered from DWR with units expected to ship in late July.
