We like the simplicity of white dishes. There's no pattern or color to detract from your meal and it's nice that they'll pretty much match any glasses or flatware you may have. However, they can sometimes seem a little dull. Not so the Scalloped Dinnerware Set from West Elm ($24-$32 for a set of four bowls, dinner, or salad plates). The delicately carved edges jazz up an otherwise ordinary plate. And, the glossy stoneware dishes would look equally at home in a traditional as in a modern kitchen.
