Ribs with whiskey...sigh. :) These get made this weekend, even if it rains.

I was wondering what your feelings are of cooking ribs in the oven first? I think that's cheating. I prefer them on the grill the whole time.

Hum, never really thought about that before! I have many friends who boil or bake them so the meat will be super tender and fall off the bone. I dont really like the meat to fall off the bone. I like it to be nice and browned and smokey so i've only ever cooked them completely on the grill, despite what the recipe calls for. Everytime ive made them i've just put them on indirect heat for a few hours...they still get tender that way, but not so tender that they fall apart in your hand!

Thanks. I don't like when they fall apart either. I like eating the meat off the bone. I know people who boil them and bake them first, too, and to me it's not the same thing. I will wrap them in foil for the first half of the cooking time though, if I can't watch them the whole time. But you have to be careful with that too, because if you put any liquid in the foil it will start to steam the ribs and then you might as well have boiled them to begin with. I can't wait to make these.

List Comments

I've come to the conclusion that as long as I've got your list, I don't need my cookbooks anymore. There is just so much awesome food in here. Thank you for sharing. Oh, and ribs, I like to wrap them in foil and cook them REAL slow, for like 3 hours or so. I put a dry rub on before and then if you want anything more I add it towards the end.

You are making me seriously hungry watching all this yummy stuff go by. :)

This is getting to be a pattern. About once a month a get the munchies really bad looking at your list.

Mmmmmmm

HH, may I invite myself out to your house for a delicious meal???

Lol, Sure Kabroskie! I love cooking for people. ;)

Okay. I'm pretty sure I can be there by dinner tonight...CA to OH is a pretty quick drive, right?:-)

HH, my 101 year old super Italian great aunt, Carmella, still makes her own home-made ravioli. They are the best ravioli i've ever eaten... om nom nom nom lol.She calls me (spelled phonetically): Shhhteeeviee!

Ohh, I'd love to try some Italian grandma home-made ravioli! I bet it is so delicious. Yum. I'd also like to get a hands on lesson! I've only attempting home-made ravioli once and I really fudged it up and didn't roll the pasta thin enough. That was a long time ago though when I had a lot less experience in the kitchen. I'm going to experiment tomorrow afternoon with the pasta to see if I cant get it perfect before I try to make it on Saturday. I need to buy pasta roller! It would make everything so much easier.

Pasta makers are the bomb-biggidy.Nothing like home-made food. Even if it isn't AS GOOD as you may get in a restaurant or something, the "love" ingredient is the best of all, hahaha.I love cooking, but don't do it enough... :-(

Cooking is my number one passion. I wish I would have gone to college to be a chef instead of wasting 40 grand on a web development degree that I never used just for the sake of living up to everyone's expectations by going to college when I really didn't know what I wanted out of life back then. (woah run ons..) *le sigh* I keep hoping I'll win the lotto so I can go to the Culinary Institute of America. Heh.

You don't need a stupid degree to tell you that you can cook!! If you love cooking, and do it all the time, that's more important than anything!!

I'll be right there with you hophead. I guess I need to start playing the lottery, huh...unless you'd have enough left over for me to go too. ;) I want to be a grill chef (just not obnoxoius like like Bobby Flay).

I know K, I just wish it is what I could do for a living instead of just for fun. LC - a grill chef would be so much fun. I'm completely obsessed with smoking food on my charcoal grill. Its warmed up here to the 50's the last few days and all I've already made THREE slow smoked dinners this week. We go thru a shit load of charcoal and wood chips in the summer time.

I LOVE to grill hophead. I live for it. I eat so good in the warm weather because it is so fun to cook. I keep meaning to break off my list and start one just for grilling. Although then my regular list would get ignored. I've learned to grill almost anything, and my favorites are veggies. I adore grilled veggies so much. I have to be really careful because I'm not really supposed to grill on my balcony (even with my collection of fire extinguishers), fortunately the older couple downstairs very seldom uses their grill and told me awhile ago I was more than welcome to use it whenever. :) And I always give them something I make too. We've had a few nice days the last couple of weeks I took advantage of to grill. I need to start that list. Thanks for getting me fired up. ;)

We should exchange some recipes once it starts warming up!

I like making roasted red peppers on the grill. I hadn't until recently, but I think they come out pretty tasty!

I was thinking the same thing HH. :)

Roasted peppers on the gill are amazing. I plan to doing some grilled stuffed poblanos sometime soon. I think that sounds like it would be really good.

I'm in love! Your list is amazing. I think I'll have to agree with lamerchick's comment about ditching recipe books.

theres soo many things id like to cook and bake. i mean my list is getting out of control. but i just wish i had the ingredients and tools in the kitchen that i needed for all of it. unfortunately for all that i need money. which i dont have too much of these days..so i feel like ive been eating unhealthy when if i cooked, id make healthier choices! ahh, i plan to get some things this week to really start though. :]

ooo borrowing some of the goodness on your list :) thanks!

Oh I noticed you enjoy lots of food porn... So here are some other sites I thought you would enjoy. http://foodgawker.com/http://technicolorkitcheninenglish.blogspot.com/Tell me what you think! :D

oh hahaa, there are two different sites.

Your list is amazing! I just moved to a new place with oodles of counter space and I'm itching to try out some new things, so I took quite a bit.

There really needs to be a way to give more than 3 <333's in some cases.
