(08/27/10) A resplendent and striking piece, the Sur la Lune necklace is comprised of the finest grade of pearls. Sur la Lune is a classic piece of pearls however it is slightly avant-garde with an asymmetrical "center" and deep charcoal patinad sterling. The materials and length are classic enough for a bride to wear on her wedding day and the colors will add an old-world, vintage feel. However the asymmetrical lines and blackened sterling mesh well with the current fall and winter couture fashion lines. Large flat flake and thick baroque pearls with an intense, lustrous nacre create the bulk of the piece. Dozens and dozens of natural (not cultured) saltwater keishi and finger pearls spill out and drizzle down from between the the large "cornflake"-like freshwater pearls. The true gem of the piece though is an eight-gram, nearly 1" x 1", winged baroque pearl that has been asymmetrically placed along one of the sides of the piece. The hinged bangle style bracelet measures 8 inches in outer circumference and tapers in width from 1 and 1/8 inches in width top center, down to 7/8 of an inch bottom center, and a hidden clasp with dual deployment secures it. The center fancy gallery wire bezel contains one freeform shaped opal. It measures 22.6 X 19.6 mm and weights 12.34 ct. It is grey based and displays all color of brushstroke fire pattern with a dominant orange red broad flash with a brightness level of 3.50. Each side contains a random pattern of seven bezel set round brilliant cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.60ct. VS to SI in clarity and G to H color. The intricate scroll work has spiral and granulation detail. Gold weights 31.8 grams. A large (18mm) puffed lentil of Prasiolite (green Amethyst) is surrounded by a collection of purple Tanzanite, Rose Quartz, royal blue Kyanite, violet Ametyst, Mystic Blue Topaz, Swiss Blue Topaz and white Moonstone.
