I've bought a few books about dressing for your body shape but this one is definitely the best one. Their advice is spot on and definitely changed the way I view my body. Most body shape books break down body types to about 6 at best but this book goes further with not only a lot more body shapes and but also describes traits like leg proportion, neck length and bottom size. It has changed the way I shop. I now walk straight passed all the gorgeous but wrong for me clothes - no matter how fab! I look for shape first, fabric and colour next. By A Customer I bought this book recently, and, despite the glowing reviews from others, I believe that five stars is an excessive amount of praise. In its favour, the season colour guide is excellent, and this alone justifies the three stars that I have awarded. However, I found the body proportion guidelines confusing, and some of the style advice a little dated, especially the fashion personality section. Carol Spenser's book is far superior in this regard, although this book has the edge on the colour section, and a hybrid of both books would constitute my ideal style guide. I made my first amigurumi crocheted rabbit using this book and I'm chuffed with the results. Easy to follow instructions and clear pictures, both useful for inspiration and during the make stage where you go "eh how does that fit together?". (Note to crocheter's, this is an American book, with American crochet terminology). The book is quite simply, lovely, using different techniques, (sewing, felting, crochet, embroidery) so you can branch out and try new stuff. Like the previous reviewer, if I had been able to see this book prior to purchase, I wouldn't have bought it. It only contains 15 projects, many of which I had seen plenty of before or found too specialised to undertake, so it wasn't the joyous bonfire of flaming hot inspiration I was hoping for. There are also very few photos to capture your imagination; in fact, much of the book is taken up with interviews with craftspeople, and the histories of various techniques. Things like cross stitching and soap making require investment in lots of specific tools and materials, and take so long you'd need a ten foot hourglass to time them. If you're looking for more instantaneous crafty thrills, visuals to make you salivate or 'do-it-now' customisation ideas like I am, give this book a miss. I do consider myself a contempory crafter but the projects in this book just didn't appeal. All I can recall right now are nipple tassels/cover thingies!!! (which I am sure my husband would love but not the kind of thing I can make at the kitchen table in front of the children! To this second category belong people with little or no Welsh heritage who are fascinated by the language. Given perhaps the use of English as a medium, and what I would think would be a certain lack of Welsh-learning resources in other languages, to this category also belong non-L1 speakers of English who want to learn Welsh. Given the nature of the language (very different from other standard languages taught in Anglophone schools), a solid beginning is a necessity. It is very easy to get discouraged early on--so much is unfamiliar, there are odd things like mutuations to get used to, and the syntactic structure is strange.
