(08/15/10) It's been two years already since Third Day released their first studio record as a foursome (after original guitarist Brad Avery left to pursue other interests). Revelation was a return to a more southern rock approach after their successful more contemporary release, Wherever You Are. Now, with a brand new project, titled Move, Third Day channels even more of their southern roots, harkening back to their earlier days, especially the acoustic-driven Time, and marries it with the rock flair of Revelation. The end result? A healthy helping of southern hospitality that grooves and rocks hard at times and offers more of the worshipful songs fans have come to expect from the band. While some of the real standout songs seem to cause a few of the album's later tracks to blend together and pale in comparison, repeat listens breath more life into those songs. However, there are a few bonus tracks that you may not have, including: "I See Love" from "The Passion of the Christ Songs: Original Songs Inspired by the Film", "Carry Me Home" from their rare 2001 EP of the same name, (it was free with the purchase of "Come Together" when it was first released,) "Movin' on Up" from the "Second Chance" original motion picture soundtrack, and "Blessed Assurance," a beautiful hymn from, I THINK, one of the WOW CDs. I mainly got this for the DVD. The in-depth interview with the band is awesome! You really get a sense of who they are & how they got where they are today. Live video performances like "Thief" don't hurt either!See less
