I bought these egg shakers for my daughter's first birthday. She's been going to a music class since she was 7 months old so I was looking for similar toys we could use and enjoy at home. First, there's hardly any shake in these shakers. There's really not much in the eggs to make a sound. My daughter, who is really familiar with this toy and enjoys the egg shakers from her music class just threw these aside out of frustration. Second, they break very easily. I kept insisting that my daughter try this toy, but about after the 5th try one egg broke in half and I had little black beads all over my floor. I'm scared to think what would have happened if they would've broke with my daughter and I wasn't around. This really is a great toy that kids love. All the children in my daughter's music class love when it's time to dance with the egg shakers. The problem is the way this company makes them. I would suggest looking for another brand name. The first time I used regular white glue and it didn't work. When I used craft glue, it worked just fine. - Kassia S We only use liquid starch and water balloons; we've made these for years. Now we are teaching my great granddaughter who is only 3 to make them. It's a mess but we wouldn't stop doing it and seeing the kids' faces when they finish. My granddaughter's school had me make 100 of them for their Christmas store, and they sold out on the first day. They wanted 200 the next year. Materials (per card): * 1 piece of cardstock (your choice of color) * eggs (about 4) * food coloring or other Easter egg coloring * vinegar (if you're using food coloring) * white glue * poster paint or acrylic paint (optional; see below) Equipment: * scissors * pencil * four cups or deep bowls * spoon * water Instructions: * Fold the card stock in half widthwise to make a card. * Write your greeting on the inside of the card. * Draw a large egg shape on the front of the card. * As a guide, draw a pattern on your egg. You're going to glue colored eggshell pieces on the pattern, so draw using large shapes. * There are three ways to create colored eggshells for this project. * Hard-boil the eggs and cool them completely. Then in four cups or deep bowls, mix up four differnt egg colors.
